Francesco Fidanza (attr. a)
(1747 - 1819)

Harbor scene with bastion and figures

oil on canvas
75 x 100 cm
The painting, appeared on the antiques market in 1985, it is attributable to Francesco Fidanza, whose distinctive features can be recognized, including the blurred atmosphere and small figures, sketched with short and well-defined brushstrokes. His artistic career projected him into an environment that was more largely European than strictly Italian, making him almost a precursor of neo-Gothic and pre-romantic sensibility, characteristics that will be fully established in the nineteenth century
