Francesco (modi di) Zuccarelli
(1702 - 1788)

Small landscape with shepherd and wayfarers

oil on canvas applied on tablet
22.5 x 29 cm
In the painting proposed here we can recognize the ways of Zuccarelli, in particular those of the Venetian period, when he turned to Arcadian painting, which he cultivated in competition with Giuseppe Zais from Belluno. Some details including the dry tree in the foreground and the landscape construction make the attribution to Zuccarelli highly probable (which would be confirmed by the plate in the frame), without however making it certain. Framed, small drops of color
