“Dalì. The Divine Comedy "takes its name from the homonymous series of woodcuts created by the genius of the whimsical Spanish artist and inspired by Dante's masterpiece.
Dalì created these masterpieces in his best illustrative period and worked for almost nine years on the realization of the hundred watercolors. Following the exhibition at the Musée Galliera in Paris in 1960, they were transposed into as many woodcuts, after four years of assiduous work with the master engraver Raymond Jacquet. The woodcut presented here was drawn on vat paper, "Japanese vellum", in four copies with handwritten signature, for the types of Eldec S.p.A.
