The painting, which refers to Riberian suggestions, to an analysis with Wood's lamp does not show evident repainting. A coeval repentance that affects the face is possible. There are nineteenth-century paint drippings probably contemporary to the wax lining: therefore it is assumed that the restoration operations took place in England, as is also shown by the presence of the English-style frame of the mid-nineteenth century.
