Domenico Morelli
(1823 - 1901)

Christ in the desert, 1880/1890 ca.

oil on tablet
12 x 16.5 cm.
The painting bears the signature on the lower left: Morelli. It is accompanied by an expert report by Dr. Stefano Liberati (25-10-2015). It seems to be a study or a sketch for the various Christological paintings that the Master made between the 1980s and the 1990s. The ductus of the brushstroke and the color choices refer to other subjects, executed in the same period, such as the "Christ in the desert", preserved in the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. In frame.
