The painting, with oval structure, is on the first canvas and does not present evident repainting. The pictorial surface appears, in several areas, rather impoverished, especially in the left part and in the hand area of the right part of the painting. Small brown spots are also visible on the young man's face and small holes and gaps in the outermost part of the work which, perhaps, was once covered by the frame. The craquelure is present throughout the painting.
