Ugo Attardi
(1923 - 2006)
Abstract composition, 1964
oil on canvas
24.5 x 30 cm
Work signed and dated lower right: "Attardi 64". On the back bearing the inscription: "to Farinelli for his constancy with sympathy Attardi". Framed.
The work comes from the collection of Romualdo Farinelli, a well-known Perugian film distributor and promoter of important cultural events, made possible also thanks to his friendships with directors and painters. In the 1960s, driven by a deep respect for the major figurative artists of the time โ many of whom were personal friends, as evidenced by the personal dedications often present on the back of the canvases โ he began to commission exclusively abstract works from them, conceived as free creative divertissements. From this original initiative was born the collection entitled "I figurativi si divertono", completed during the 1970s. The catalogue presents 17 paintings belonging to this singular and precious nucleus.
