The inlay is part of a series of tapestries created for the "VI. BI. BAR" (i.e. the "Vino Birra Bar") in Bolzano, which opened around 1937. Depero was commissioned to create 6 large inlays in coloured fabrics to decorate the premises, which remained in place until 1972, the year the bar closed.
Work archived in the "Stoffe" section of the General Catalogue Raisonné of the Futurist Works of Fortunato Depero, with the archive number: FD - 0256 - STO. Thanks to Prof. Maurizio Scudiero for confirming its authenticity.
