The inlay is part of a series of tapestries created for the "VI. BI. BAR" (i.e. the "Vino Birra Bar") in Bolzano, which opened around 1937. Depero was commissioned to create 6 large inlays in coloured fabrics to decorate the premises, which remained in place until 1972, the year the bar closed.
