(1892 - 1960)
Snake (Pythoness), 1925/1926
inlay of colored fabrics
58 x 58 cm
Signed in embroidery lower left: Fortunato Depero.
The subject, taken up several times by Depero also in other smaller tapestries, can be traced back to a well-known inlay from 1922, formerly in the Gualino collection in Turin, entitled La Pitonessa, where the snake charmer appears. The same snake is taken up again in an oil from 1936.
