Giulio Cesare Procaccini (maniera di)

Deposition of Christ from the Cross, XVIII century

oil painting on canvas
98 x 76 cm

The work is a replica of the homonymous painting by Giulio Cesare Procaccini, kept in a private Milanese collection, and executed, according to Zeri, between 1615 and 1620. We are faced with a very faithful reprise of the subject, proposed with a different pictorial ductus: the evident highlights and the more nuanced rendering of the figures tend to direct us towards a late eighteenth-century reproduction of the painting.

The work is relined and in excellent conservation conditions
